How, when and where can I reach the DVS Server Support?

What is the difference between Managed Server and Root Server?
A Managed Server is no different from Shared Hosting package except that you will have an exclusive server. We take care of security updates, system maintenance, initial configuration and installation and hardware replacement. There are no limits on memory usage, number of running processes, CPU usage, etc. Moreover you can setup your own local mySQL database. (external access to this database is only possible with a Root Server).
You will not have any root access. Therefore you cannot install any applications of your choice. You will not have access to error logs or system configuration files.

A Root Server is a preconfigured server granting you root access. Root means that a user on a Linux system has all permissions and can change the entire system at his/her own disgression. A Root Server comes with pre-installed administrative software Plesk 7. You can install applications of your choice, run Gameservers, etc.

We do not provide any support for Root Server packages except with hardware failures. We recommend the Root Server for technically proficient people who are seeking the advantage of space, power and control.

BACKUP
Managed Server: The data on our Managed Servers is backed up like all our other products by our backup system.
 

All our managed servers are protected with A hardware Firewall that protects your server from external attacks.

Root Server: Backup and cannot be offered for a Root Server. As the user is root on the server, our administrators can't access the system and thus can't ensure a backup of the data. To protect our internal network from possible internal attacks, all Root Servers are located in a separate network which is NOT protected by a firewall. For this reason the customer is entirely responsible for the security of his/her server.

DVS Can provide a Hardware Firewall if you should need at an extra cost.

To avoid having to backup your server through the limited bandwidth at your disposal you can order additional FTP-space (30 GB) on our backup system.

This protected user space which is accessible to you only is backed up daily.

Servers are housed in our New Data Centre in Cardiff Wales. Enjoy all the advantages our servers have: connectivity through multiple carriers, UPS, fire protection, etc.

 
How long does it take to set up a Server?
 

Normally you should allow 10 days for the server to be up and running. However this can change due to demand.
